Ellyn Oliver Press Kit
Bio.
Ellyn Oliver is steadily building a quietly distinctive presence within Scotland’s contemporary music scene, known for her expressive, soulful vocals that move fluidly between intimate folk textures and gospel-tinged warmth. Raised in rural Aberdeenshire and now based between Glasgow and Edinburgh, her songwriting reflects themes of faith, nature, and human connection, while her voice—carrying a natural Scottish lilt and finely shaped phrasing—has drawn comparisons to artists such as Regina Spektor and Norah Jones.
Her breakthrough came with a widely shared cover of Robert Burns’ Red Red Rose, which helped pave the way for her debut EP Arms Wide Open (2019). In 2020, she received the Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections and has since earned regular airplay on BBC Radio Scotland, Amazing Radio, UCB, and Premier Christian Radio.
Supported by Creative Scotland, her 2025 project Seaglass—a collaborative, year-long release—was met with growing critical attention, including Scotland on Sunday’s Artist of the Week recognition, alongside a sold-out tour and festival appearances such as Belladrum. She continues to perform and collaborate across the UK, further refining her distinctive artistic voice.
Looking ahead, Ellyn Oliver is set to release her upcoming single “Cinnamon Skies” in May 2026, marking the next chapter in an evolving and increasingly confident musical journey.
